Version 2.5 · Effective September 2, 2026
This Refund Policy explains how refunds are handled for ThermoSketch subscriptions and other paid services.
ThermoSketch is a cloud-based engineering simulation service. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record and payment processor. Approved refunds are issued through Dodo Payments.
This policy is designed to provide clear and predictable refund guidance while allowing ThermoSketch to review individual circumstances fairly.
This Refund Policy forms part of the ThermoSketch Terms of Service and is incorporated into them by reference. By accepting the Terms of Service, you also accept this Refund Policy.
This Refund Policy has its own version number and effective date. The version applicable to a particular Payment or refund request is the version that was presented to you and in effect at the time of the relevant transaction, subject to mandatory rights under applicable law.
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or excludes any consumer rights, statutory remedies, withdrawal rights, cooling-off periods, or other protections that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

This summary is provided for convenience only. The detailed terms below govern all refund decisions.
2.1 Payment. A Payment means an individual charge made to your account, including:
Each Payment is evaluated separately for refund eligibility.
2.2 Usage. For ThermoSketch simulation products, Usage is measured by the number of Successful Solver Runs recorded on your account during the quota period covered by the Payment being reviewed. Your account Usage page displays your recorded Usage and individual solver runs.
2.3 Successful Solver Run. A Successful Solver Run means a calculation request submitted through ThermoSketch that completes processing and produces a result output. Whether a user agrees with, or achieves a particular engineering expectation from, the result does not determine whether a solver run is considered successful for refund calculation purposes.
2.4 Technical Problem. A Technical Problem means a material service failure attributable to ThermoSketch infrastructure or systems, including:
Issues caused by customer devices, internet connectivity, unsupported input formats, or incorrect user-provided data are not considered ThermoSketch Technical Problems.
2.5 Standard Refund Window. The Standard Refund Window means the period beginning on the date of a Payment and ending 7 calendar days after that Payment.
2.6 Extended Refund Window. The Extended Refund Window means the period beginning on the 8th calendar day after a Payment and ending 30 calendar days after that Payment.
2.7 Refund Request Period. The Refund Request Period means the combined period consisting of the Standard Refund Window and Extended Refund Window. A refund request submitted after the Refund Request Period is generally not available under the standard refund process.
Refund eligibility depends on:
Refund calculations are based on actual recorded Usage and are not determined solely by whether a user is satisfied with a calculation result.
Each Payment has its own refund evaluation period.
Approved refunds cancel the related paid subscription access immediately. Your ThermoSketch account remains available under the free Laminar plan.
4.1 Full Refund When No Successful Solver Runs Are Recorded. If no Successful Solver Runs have been recorded against a Payment, you are eligible for a full refund if your refund request is submitted within the Refund Request Period.
This applies during both:
4.2 Usage-Based Partial Refunds When Successful Solver Runs Are Recorded. If Successful Solver Runs have been recorded against a Payment, the refund amount is calculated based on the applicable refund window.
During the Standard Refund Window
If your refund request is submitted during the Standard Refund Window:
Refund percentage = 75% − percentage of monthly allowance used
Examples:
Once your Usage reaches 75% of your monthly allowance, no refund is available under this section.
During the Extended Refund Window
If your refund request is submitted during the Extended Refund Window:
Refund percentage = 50% − percentage of monthly allowance used
Example:
Once your Usage reaches 50% of your monthly allowance, no refund is available under this section.
The refund percentage cannot be less than zero.
4.3 Requests After the Refund Request Period. Refund requests submitted more than 30 days after the relevant Payment are generally not available through the standard refund process. If you believe exceptional circumstances apply, you may contact ThermoSketch support. We will review the circumstances, and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Usage is calculated based on Successful Solver Runs recorded against the specific Payment being reviewed.
Failed solver attempts do not count as Usage when evaluating a refund request. Attempts that fail because of a ThermoSketch Technical Problem do not count as Usage.
The refund amount shown during the request process is an estimate based on available Usage records at that time and is subject to review before approval. When ThermoSketch personnel review your request, we may recalculate your Usage as of the time of review. Usage recorded after you submit your request, including during the review period, can differ from the estimate shown at submission and may result in a different refund percentage. The amount ultimately approved is based on the Usage recorded up to the time the refund decision is made, not solely the estimate initially displayed.
If the calculated monetary refund amount is less than USD $1.00, no monetary refund will be issued.
Where appropriate, ThermoSketch may provide a discount coupon instead. Such a discount coupon may be applied toward future ThermoSketch purchases or upgrades. A discount coupon:
Discount coupons may carry an expiry date and other terms, which are stated when the coupon is issued.
Technical Problems are handled separately from ordinary Usage-based refund requests.
If a ThermoSketch technical issue materially prevents you from using the service, please contact us. Examples include:
When an operation fails because of a ThermoSketch Technical Problem:
Where appropriate, ThermoSketch may provide:
Billing errors are reviewed separately from ordinary refund requests. Examples include:
Verified billing errors are not subject to the Usage-based refund calculations described above and may qualify for a full refund, a partial refund, or another appropriate correction.
9.1 Subscription Cancellation. Cancelling a subscription prevents future renewal charges. Cancellation alone does not create a refund for amounts already paid, and you keep access to paid features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You can cancel your subscription from your account's Billing page. If you want both to cancel your subscription and to request a refund for a payment you have already made, submit a refund request as described in Section 10. An approved refund ends your access to paid features immediately, as described below.
9.2 What Happens When a Refund Is Approved. If we approve a refund, whether full or partial:
We show you this before you submit a refund request, so that you can decide whether requesting a refund is what you want. Cancelling your subscription without requesting a refund is a separate option.
9.3 Upgrades. When you upgrade to a higher plan:
A refund request for an upgrade Payment is treated the same as any other Payment, based on the Usage recorded against that upgrade Payment. It is not treated differently because it followed an earlier Payment on the same product. The previous Payment is evaluated separately. If you also want a refund for that earlier Payment, you may request it independently, subject to its own refund window and Usage.
If we approve a refund for an upgrade Payment, you return to the free Laminar plan as described in Section 9.2. If instead you decide before submitting a refund request that you would prefer to move back to a lower paid plan rather than cancel entirely, contact support@thermosketch.com and we will discuss the options available to you.
9.4 Downgrades. When you switch to a lower plan:
That renewal Payment has its own refund windows under Sections 4.1 and 4.2, on the same terms as any other renewal. The Payment covering the period before the downgrade takes effect is evaluated separately, under its own refund window and its own Usage.
You can cancel a scheduled downgrade from your account's Billing page at any time before it takes effect, at no charge.
If we approve a refund while a downgrade is scheduled, Section 9.2 applies: the paid subscription for that product is cancelled and the scheduled change does not take effect.
You can request a refund from the payment history on your account's Billing page, where each Payment has its own request option. You can also contact support@thermosketch.com.
When you submit a request, we ask you to:
Your account will display an estimated refund amount calculated according to Sections 4 and 5, based on your plan, the Payment, and the Usage recorded at the moment you submit the request. This estimated amount is not a guarantee of a refund or refund amount. It is subject to review before any refund is issued.
If the calculated monetary refund amount is below the Minimum Refund Amount (USD $1.00), your account shows an estimate of $0.00 and you can still submit the request. Where appropriate we may offer a discount coupon instead, as described in Section 6.
If we cannot match a Payment to a usage period, no estimate is shown and the request is reviewed individually instead.
While a request is under review, the option to submit another request for the same Payment is unavailable.
Information submitted as part of your request is retained as part of the refund review record. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we store and how it is handled.
Every refund request is reviewed by ThermoSketch personnel before a refund is issued. No refund is issued automatically.
We will respond to your request within 5 business days. If we need longer, we will notify you before that period ends and explain why. You will receive a response either way; a request will not simply remain unanswered.
The review period refers to the time required for ThermoSketch to evaluate the request and communicate a decision. If a refund is approved, the money must then be processed through Dodo Payments and returned through your payment provider or financial institution. The timing of that process is outside ThermoSketch's control and is described in Section 12.
During review, we may consider:
The estimated amount shown in your account does not guarantee that a particular amount will be refunded. If you disagree with the estimate, you may explain the circumstances in your request, and a person will review the information provided.
Approved refunds are issued and fulfilled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record and payment processor, on behalf of ThermoSketch LLC. ThermoSketch does not send refund payments outside the Dodo Payments refund process.
Once a refund has been approved and submitted to Dodo Payments, funds are typically returned within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your card issuer or financial institution. That timing is determined by Dodo Payments and your bank, and is outside ThermoSketch's control.
We do not deduct payment processing fees or refund fees from an approved monetary refund. The amount approved by ThermoSketch is the amount returned through the Dodo Payments refund process.
ThermoSketch prices and refunds are handled in USD. If your card or bank account uses another currency, your card issuer or financial institution may apply its own conversion rate or foreign transaction fee. Those charges are determined by your financial institution and are outside our control.
If you are unhappy with a charge or believe there is a billing issue, please contact us first at support@thermosketch.com. We can usually review billing questions and refund requests more quickly through our support process than through a bank dispute.
Dodo Payments, as merchant of record, may also encourage buyers to contact support before initiating a chargeback with their bank.
A dispute filed with your bank or card issuer may take longer to resolve. If a chargeback is decided against ThermoSketch, your paid subscription ends and we may decline to provide paid services to your account in future.
This does not affect your access to the free Laminar plan, it does not close your account, and it is not permanent. If you believe this was applied incorrectly, or you wish to resolve an outstanding matter, contact support@thermosketch.com and a person will review the situation.
We may review unusual or repeated refund requests. Examples include:
A request identified for additional review is not automatically declined. We may ask for additional information before making a decision.
ThermoSketch provides engineering calculation tools intended to assist engineering analysis. Users remain responsible for:
Refund eligibility is not determined solely by whether calculated results meet a user's specific design expectations or engineering objectives.
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or excludes any consumer rights, withdrawal rights, cooling-off periods, refund rights, or other mandatory protections that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
If applicable law provides rights that are more favorable than the terms described here, those rights continue to apply.
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Each version carries a version number and an effective date.
The version that applies to a particular Payment or refund request is the version that was in effect and presented to you at the time of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Changes will not retroactively remove rights applicable to previous transactions where such removal is prohibited by law.
